Finger Pull Drawers: Handleless Custom Cabinetry

Finger pull drawers give you a clean, handleless front — you open the drawer by gripping a routed recess or a shaped edge instead of a knob or bar. At Cabinetworx you design the cabinet to your own millimetre sizes, choose the drawer front finish and order the flat pack online for delivery across Australia.

What a finger pull drawer actually is

A finger pull (also called a handleless or integrated pull) removes the surface-mounted handle. The grip is built into the cabinetry itself, usually in one of two ways:

  • Routed finger pull — a recess machined into the top or bottom edge of the drawer front, so the face stays completely flat.
  • Shadow line / rail gap — the drawer front sits back slightly or a channel runs behind it, so the gap between drawers becomes the pull.

Both suit the same job: a flush, uninterrupted run of drawers with nothing to catch bags, tea towels or hips in a narrow galley.

Where finger pull drawers work best

Kitchens

Banks of pot drawers under the benchtop read as one clean surface. Handleless fronts also help in tight walkways where protruding handles get knocked. See custom kitchen cabinets.

Wardrobes

Inside a built-in robe, finger pull drawers sit behind the doors with nothing protruding, so doors and shelves clear them easily. See wardrobe drawer inserts.

Laundries and vanities

Fewer edges to wipe around and no handles to corrode in a wet area. Pair with a laminate benchtop cut to the same run.

Practical tips

  • Plan the finger pull edge direction (top or bottom) consistently across a run so the shadow lines align.
  • Allow for the gap between fronts in your overall cabinet height when you design the run.
  • Check clearance where a drawer sits next to a wall, return or appliance so there is room for fingers.
  • Soft-close runners keep flush fronts closing square, which matters more when gaps are the feature.

Ordering finger pull drawers from Cabinetworx

Every Cabinetworx cabinet is made to the sizes you enter, not to a fixed range of widths. The process is the same for drawer units as for any other cabinet:

  • Pick a drawer cabinet — for example a 3 equal drawers cabinet — and set the width, height and depth.
  • Choose your finish and drawer front style from the doors, panels and fillers range.
  • Get your price online, order, and the cabinets arrive flat packed ready to assemble.
